Conversations With Road
Follow Your Road
The road never asked me where I was going….
It simply waited…
For years, I searched for signs. I wanted certainty…. I wanted someone wiser to point in a direction and say, “Go there. That’s your life.”
But roads don’t work that way….
They don’t promise anything.
Sometimes they disappear into the forest…
Sometimes they vanish behind the next hill….
Sometimes they twist so many times that you begin to wonder if you’ve been walking in circles…
And still...you keep walking.
Life has taught me that the hardest journey isn’t finding the right road.
It’s having the courage to admit which one is truly yours…
That requires something brutally simple.
Brutal honesty…
Not with your friends.
Not with your family.
Not with social media.
With yourself….
Because deep inside, you already know.
You know when you’re living someone else’s expectations…
You know when you’re staying because it’s comfortable…
You know when you’re pretending to be happy because it disappoints fewer people….
Your soul knows.
It always knows.
The problem is that your mind is loud….
Fear is loud.
Opinions are loud….
But the soul...The soul whispers.
And whispers require silence…
I’ve learned that following your own road may become a lonely journey.
Some people won’t understand.
Some will quietly disappear.
Others will think you’ve changed….
Maybe they’re right.
You’re supposed to.
Who the hell cares?
This isn’t their road.
It’s yours….
There were mornings when I stood on empty roads before sunrise, with no certainty about where my life was heading.
No guarantees.
No map.
Just another step….
Funny enough...those roads taught me more than any book ever could.
They taught me that clarity rarely comes before movement.
It comes because of movement…
The horizon always looks impossible from where you’re standing.
But every honest step changes the view.
That’s how life works…
The destination has never been the point…
Becoming the person who had the courage to walk... that was the point all along.
So if your road feels endless...walk.
If it disappears into fog...walk.
If nobody walks beside you...walk.
Don’t wait until you see the entire journey.
You never will….
Trust the quiet voice that refuses to disappear.
The one beneath the fear.
The one beneath the noise.
It has been trying to guide you since the very beginning….
Follow that voice.
Follow your road.
The road shapes who you become.
The sunrise reminds you why you keep walking….

For the first 29 years of my adult life, I followed a road that had been laid out for me by others. A road designed by parental, cultural, and religious influences. I was miserable on that road. For years, my heart and soul told me there was a better road for me to travel. Twenty years ago this year, I left that rocky road and embarked in a different direction. Nobody understood except my son. I was otherwise alone to follow this new road my soul was leading me on. It was the road to peace, contentment, and spiritual fulfillment. We must always follow the roads our soul is pointing us on. Thank you for your beautiful writings and photographs.
Beautiful! Both the photos and your message :)
